About Arcos

Learn more about Arcos de la Frontera, the points of interest, and other ways to spend time here

If you're interested in visiting Arcos de la Frontera, there are several places you can explore in a single day, including Plaza del Cabildo, the Minor Basilica of Santa María de la Asunción, the Convent of the Mercedarias, San Pedro Church, Arcos de la Frontera Castle, Puerta Matrera, and the Arcos de la Frontera Viewpoints Route.

Furthermore, Arcos is the largest town on the White Villages Route, which is a scenic rural road in Andalusia, southern Spain.

This route leads through a series of small villages and hamlets, most of which date back to Phoenician and Roman settlements, expanded by the Moors from the 8th to the 15th century. The White Villages are characterized by whitewashed houses and narrow winding streets, reminiscent of those found in North Africa, and most villages have churches and manor houses. The White Villages Route is a unique way to explore the region and experience its culture and history.

Most visitors start the route in Arcos de la Frontera, commonly considered the starting point of the White Villages Route; however, the town of Ronda is also an option. The villages on the route are ordered alphabetically, and some of the most popular ones include:

  • Algar
  • Algodonales
  • Arcos de la Frontera
  • Benaocaz
  • Benamahoma
  • Bornos
  • El Bosque
  • El Gastor
  • Espera
  • Grazalema
  • Olvera
  • Prado del Rey
  • Puerto Serrano
  • Setenil de las Bodegas
  • Torre Alháquime
  • Ubrique
  • Villaluenga del Rosario
  • Villamartín
  • Zahara de la Sierra

In our rooms, we've compiled more information for you to make the most of your stay. You'll find our recommendations and cooperating partners, all verified by us, offering their services at a special price negotiated in advance. It's important to note that we don't receive any financial benefits from these providers. Our only concern is to offer you the best service possible.

If you want to enjoy a delicious Andalusian breakfast, we recommend visiting the 'La Tasquita' restaurant, located next to Casa Levante. The owner, Antonio, will be delighted to welcome you and offer you a wide variety of options. For example, for just €4.50, you can enjoy a 'mollete' (typical Andalusian white bread) with tomato, olive oil, and serrano ham (or other sausages), along with coffee and a glass of orange juice. It's an excellent way to start the day before exploring everything Arcos de la Frontera has to offer.
